26 Years After Building the First Camry, Toyota Team Member Parks the 10-Millionth in His Driveway

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (Aug. 27, 2014) – They say hard work is its own reward, but getting the keys to a new car makes it even better. Just ask Tom Keith. He was the envy of all 7,000 Toyota Georgetown team members when the company announced he had won a 2014 Camry in a random drawing of team members during a ceremony Wednesday, August 27. This wasn’t just any white Camry, this was the 10-millionth vehicle made at the plant since the first Camry rolled off the line in 1988 (another white Camry). Tom Keith is a team member in the Quality Control Department and has been with the company for 26 years.

PRINCETON, Ind., Aug. 22, 2014 – The regional economy is about to get a boost because Toyota Indiana is on the grow again.  The plant will invest $100 million and add 300 jobs by summer 2016 to boost production of the popular Highlander midsize sport utility vehicle. This expansion will bring Toyota Indiana’s overall investment to $4 billion. This step allows Toyota to utilize existing capacity in North America while providing additional flexibility to adjust our product mix to meet changing customer demand.

As president of the newly formed BridgeValley Community and Technical College, she oversaw the merger of Bridgemont and Kanawha Valley Colleges, building on the strengths of both institutions.  Dr. Harris’ hunch: that when good ideas are shared among the two colleges, that great things can happen.
